Switch Together Virginia

What is Switch Together?

Switch Together is a program that uses the power of group buying to help households save on high-quality solar installations - including optional battery storage.

Governor Abigail Spanberger and Chief Energy Officer Josephus Allmond are partnering with SwitchTogether and Solar United Neighbors to bring this program statewide to reach more Virginians. This is the first time SwitchTogether has been rolled out across a state, and this will help more Viriginia households learn more about and save money on home solar and battery storage solutions.

This SwitchTogether initiative covers most of Virginia, with plans to continue expanding the program in the future. This program provides substantial savings and delivers on the Governor’s commitment to clean, affordable, reliable and homegrown energy. With the power of group buying, Virginia homeowners can expect an average discount of 23% (or $6,300 on a 9.0 kW system size) on their installations.

Join nearly 6,000 Virginians who have signed up to see if solar is right for them:

The 2026 Virginia campaign is open through October 15th!   Sign up by Oct 15th to secure a personal recommendation to figure out if home solar is a good solution for you.

How does Switch Together work?

Switch Together organizes groups of residents who are interested in going solar, together. By organizing a group purchase for rooftop solar and optional battery storage systems, Switch Together can get a better deal for each household participating in the group.

  1. Registration: Sign up online today. It’s free to join. There’s no obligation to make a purchase.
  2. Personal recommendation: You'll get a personal installation proposal based on your registration details.
  3. Make Your Decision: Once you get the offer, you can decide if you want to accept and proceed with a consultation with your assigned installer. If you choose to accept, you will be asked to pay a program reservation fee in order to proceed and be connected with your program-assigned contractor.
  4. Installation: If you accept your recommendation, your installer will contact you to schedule your consultation meeting and discuss any specific considerations for your potential project. A site survey will verify your roof's suitability, if needed, and households are then presented with a final design and contract from their installer.
